Difficult times for workers and their families

Dear Sisters and Brothers, needless to say that we have all suffered through some very difficult times in the last 6 months or so.  I hope this message finds you and your families safe and healthy. As I am sure you are all aware there have been boats laid up and some of our members laid off.  There also has been some bumping from one boat to another which has caused a bit of confusion only because our decreases in forces language has not been used much and there is some debate as to the intent. We are working through these issues with the company the union President The International Staff rep. the menbers involved and myself. I am sure if we all hang in there we will get through this. Our land based local Sisco Hilti is also exoeriancing short work weeks and other issues. We have also had to postpone our negotiations due to two positive covid 19 tests in our office. It has caused us to close down the Sub 1 office and to quarantine those that were exposed. So far there are only the two positives. We will reschedule negotiations for Sisco as soon as we can. I wanted you to know the Union is also working on lobbying our represenatives in the Congress to continue and increase help through emotional and financial support throughout this pandemic.  Workers seem to always be the last thought of some of our represenatives and we want to make sure they dont forget about us. We are also still working on the SPT pension issue for Interlakes Leasing 3. Again we hope everyone is safe and healthy. Wear your mask ,wash your hands and practice social distancing where you can and hopefully we can put this all behind us soon. Any questions please call me at 440-225-7752 or Jamie Walker.  Be safe in solidarity Tom Z
