Unprecedented times for our Union,America and the World

Dear Sisters and Brothers just an update on the unprecedented events unfolding in our union and our country as it pretains to Covid-19 or Coronavirus. We are trying to coordinate with our local union leaders and the companies to develope the best strategies to make sure that all of our members and their families are as safe as possible during this very difficult time and crisis. We are strongly urging the companies we have under contract to follow the protocals that have been developed by the CDC, the state and the federal government. Some of those requirements consist of making sure we are practicing the best cleanliness habits such as washing your hands not touching your face social distancing as much as possible, frenquently cleaning surfaces such as countertops in lunchrooms or breakrooms, cleaning restrooms, cleaning touch screens and any devices that are handled by our members.  We are also discussing with the companies about issues if someone is coming to work the best ways to screen for possible displays of the virus. One of the ways that is a quick check is a tempature check. We are not sure if this will be used by all of the companies but it may be. If someone has their tempature taken and the reading is 100.4 or above that person should immeadiatley go home and contact their primary physician or nurse on call to determine their next steps. We are also asking our companies to also adhere to the (Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act) of the Families First Coronavirus Recovery Act.  We are urging all of our members to be vigilant and as safe as you can  be for yourselves and your families. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER AND TOGETHER WE WILL MAKE IT, IN SOLIDARITY TOM Z.
